Jane McFie Speech Pathology is a children’s speech pathology service in the Tweed and Gold Coast region. Jane provides Speech Pathology assessment and evidence based intervention to preschool and school aged children. Jane can support your child’s communication needs in the following areas:

  • Speech Development - supporting your child to be understood by friends and family and to confidently talk to others.
  • Language - supporting your child to understand and use of language to communicate with others
  • Social communication
  • Literacy - evidence based intervention to support reading and spelling
  • Stuttering

Referrals are accepted from parents, carers, educators, general practitioners and paediatricians. Families are most welcome to make contact for advice or information before making an appointment.

The initial visit is 60 minutes. During this time a comprehensive background history is gathered and this is followed by assessment tasks. Assessment may include structured assessment activities or play based assessment depending on the age and needs of the child. This information will be used to develop a plan and to determine if ongoing therapy supports are needed. During the initial session or soon after the therapist will provide preliminary feedback based on available assessment results. A written summary will be provided. Comprehensive reports are provided at an additional fee and this will be discussed prior to the initial consultation.

Therapy goals are developed in partnership with parents based on needs identified during assessment. Your child's intervention plan will consider their strengths and areas of need and match these with evidence based intervention that is fun and engaging for your child.Family members are encouraged to be involved in intervention sessions and are supported to complete follow up activities at home. Intervention goals are reviewed on a regular basis to ensure that therapy continues to target areas of priority.
